Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

4955 Legion Road, Hope Mills, NC 28348

When are services held?

Worship services are held at 8:30 am and 11:00 am each Sunday. Christian Education classes are also held each week at 10:00 am. There is also a time of fellowship after the 11:00 am worship service in the Family Life Center with light refreshments to give members an opportunity to chat and visitors a chance to meet others.

Is child care provided?

Yes, a nursery is provided for ages birth – 4 years old from 8:15 am – 12 Noon so parents can attend either worship service and a Christian Education class.

What is provided for children during the worship service?

Children are welcome at both services; however, Children’s Church is offered during the 11:00 am service. The children are called to the front for a Children’s Time, then go to the Family Life Center with their teacher for Children’s Church. They will be waiting in the FLC after the service. If a child chooses not to go to Children’s Church, he/she is more than welcome to stay with their parents.

How do I dress for worship?

We are not a formal church, so feel free to dress comfortably. Some men wear suits, others khakis with button down or polo shirt, some wear jeans and a t-shirt, others wear business casual; ladies wear dresses/skirts, slacks/khakis or jeans. We want everyone to be able to worship as they feel comfortable and do not judge people by the way they dress. We just ask that whatever you wear, please remember to be respectful and modest.

How do I join Hope Mills UMC?

We would be delighted for you to join us. You can join by Profession of Faith or by a Letter of Transfer. Either way just speak to Dr. Kretzu and arrange the day you’d like to join.

How do I get baptized?

Baptism is an outside sign of an inward faith. Many parents have their children baptized as infants, but adult baptism is becoming increasingly popular. Most baptisms are performed by a sprinkle of water on the head, but if you’d like to have a full immersion baptism that can be arranged. Just speak with Dr. Kretzu about your interest in baptism and we will set the date.

How do I find the right Christian Education (Sunday School) class?

There are 5 adult classes to choose from, each with their own personality and style. Visit each class as often as you’d like to find the one you like the best

What Bible Studies are offered?

Bible Studies are held Wednesday mornings at 10 am, Wednesday evening at 6:45 pm and Thursday evening at 7 pm. The content is the same at each study, and they are usually about 8 weeks long.

How do I get involved in activities?

Just come!!! We are delighted to have people take part in our many activities, from Bible Study to Prayer Time, Wednesday Night Dinner to singing in the Choir, helping with Vacation Bible School, the Fall Festival, or the Christmas Dinner Theatre, all you have to do is show up!
